April 2018 Newsletter

A few words from Ms. Kerrie:

Dear Forevermore Families,

Happy Spring...for real this time!  (Dear Mother Nature, no more April Fool's pranks, okay?)

We are excited to share this energizing and magical time of year with you and our all of our students.  There are so many wonderful things blooming at Forevermore, so be sure to scroll through this entire newsletter and keep reading our Weekly Wednesday Updates to stay informed.

It's Picture Week this week (April 20-26), Recital Tickets go on sale May 6, and Priority Registration for our 15th Season begins May 12! Additionally, we are kick-starting our new Acting and Music Program this May with a new "mini-mester" session! Please help us spread the word about our exciting expansion!

Before you know it, school will be out (my kids are already counting the weeks), and though we are all excited for summer, it can bring its own set of challenges.  I need to know I’m not alone here...are there any other parents out there who have a hard time with changes in routine or lack of structure?  Or actually the real truth, any who have children who struggle with changes in routine or structure?  Please tell me I’m not the only one nodding my head here!

Last year, when summer rolled around I was so thankful for the break in routine. However, I quickly realized that we actually needed something that was still routine.  I was longing for something simple that was “normal” for our family.  When summer programming began, we were truly excited to have our routine back, plus a little extra time for some sunshine.

I strongly encourage you to consider continuing taking classes through the summer.  It's a wonderful time to explore new styles, or focus on maintaining your technique and improving the skills you've developed all school year.  We have many classes and camp options for kids of all ages. But do you know what else is awesome about our summer classes?  We offer UNLIMITED make-up lessons in the summer, so you don’t need to worry about taking a vacation and missing a class or two.  Just arrange a make-up class when it works best for you!

It is our goal to unveil potential and provide a culture and service that is always More Than Just Great Dancing!  I’ve noticed that our students who continue classes during the summer compound the progress they have made throughout the first half of the year and demonstrate incredible rates of growth and improvement, which is EXACTLY what Forevermore is about.

Mr. David and I, along with the rest of the amazing team at Forevermore, would like to extend a huge thank you for supporting Forevermore and growing with our community!  We are approaching a very special milestone next year and look forward to celebrating our 15th Anniversary Season with you!  We have already seen some exciting things happen this year and have plenty more planned.  We can’t wait to share these experiences and opportunities with you and your family here at Forevermore.

Always,

Ms. Kerrie

Picture Week Starts Today!

Picture Week is a special week where students take individual and class photos in their recital costumes! This year, Picture Week is April 20-26. Students who are not participating in Recital will not have class this week. However, if they would like to come and get their individual photo taken in their class dress code, they may.

ESSENTIALS TO KNOW:

  • Please arrive at the studio 15 minutes before your dancer’s regularly scheduled class time.

  • All students should complete and bring THIS FORM, one for each of their classes, even if they do not plan to order photos.

  • Dancers should arrive in their recital costumes and hair in a bun, with light makeup.

  • Enter through our Studio C entrance. Our regular front desk will be closed.

  • Each class will take a group photo as well as individual photos.

  • Classes will also perform a mini Dress Rehearsal.

  • Graded-level ballet classes will take a vocabulary test.

  • The photo shoot is closed to all parents and we ask that you remain in Studio C for the duration of your child’s photos.

  • There are no make-ups available for missed photos.

Forevermore Ensemble: Competition Weekend Recap

Congratulations to our Dance Ensemble on their performances at the AMP Dance Competition! Shout out to Ms. Ellen and the JDE Contemporary dancers for their judge's award for "Powerful Passion," as well earning our highest score at the event and a top overall score in their division. All of our dancers performed well; we are so proud of their growth this season!

We wanted to also give a special shout out to the Team Behind The Team...a standing ovation to these awesome dance moms (and dads) who support, encourage, and inspire our talented dancers to do their best!

Recital Volunteer Deadline Approaching Quickly!

Forevermore relies on the assistance of many dedicated volunteers to provide a high-quality performance experience for your children! We encourage families to become involved with our volunteer program and greatly appreciate your help.

CLASS PARENTS are needed for each class to help supervise the dancers. Volunteers do not need a Recital ticket and will be able to watch their children perform from the side of the stage while volunteering. They are responsible for making sure that each child is in the proper costume, has the proper accessories and shoes, and is backstage at the appropriate time. This is an exciting job!

USHERS are needed for each show to assist with collecting tickets and helping audience members find their seats. Ushers do not need a Recital ticket and are able to watch the entire show standing inside the auditorium.

Click here to download a Volunteer Preference Form.

Forms will be accepted until April 28, as we would like to place as many volunteers as possible before regular ticket sales begin! All volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.

Summer Registration has begun!

SPRING INTO SUMMER.png

Our Summer classes and camps are open for registration! We encourage ALL of our dancers to participate in summer classes to maintain their progress.  If you are traveling, you can always schedule make-up lessons for missed classes.  If you’re not sure which class is right for you child, please ask!  We’re happy to guide you in the right direction.

Ms. Kendra:

jorsTAP chicago is celebrating 6 years! "6" will feature some of the most cherished pieces in the company's repertoire, as well as new ones that will be remembered as favorites in the years to come.

Ms. Ellen:

"City of Big Shoulders" expresses the day-to-day life of Chicago through the art of dance. Audiences will find their own experiences of the city appear onstage: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Topics covered vary in emotional content from the comically frustrating traffic, delicious food, thriving nightlife, and awkward CTA encounters to the unfortunate homeless population and violence within the city.

Ms. Gabriela:

Desueño Dance presents an evening of choreography featuring Desueño Vision, a Latin Jazz ensemble, and Desueño Latin. The performance showcases current Desueño repertoire. Afterwards there will be social dancing with Salsa, Bachata, and ChaCha.
